To accompany Julia Wolfe's exquisite Steel Hammer, performed by the Bang on a Can All-Stars and Trio Mediaeval, Jim Findlay created a beautiful production design (scenic, lighting, and video projections) to evoke the spirit of John Henry. The show featured many hand-drawn animations by Joshua Higgason and Jim Findlay and was mixed live by Higgason. The show was performed at University of Florida, UNC- Memorial Hall, UMD, Penn State, and Carnegie Hall. A few sample animations are featured below.
